Foster Care Programs

About Our Program

Have you ever wanted to find a way help save a life? Would you like to know that you have made a meaningful impact in the community? Are you looking to experience the joy of improving the welfare of animals?

Being a foster carer for a cat in need can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life. Providing a temporary loving and caring home environment for a cat who is transitioning, from the life of a rescued or surrendered animal to their future 'furever' home can help prepare a cat for happy life, and ensures they don't have to endure the  potential stress of being in a shelter. Fostering can also be a fantastic opportunity for anyone who is not currently in the position to provide a lifetime commitment to an animal, to enjoy the short-term companionship of a cat in need.

While the role of a foster carer can be challenging, Atlantis Cat Rescue is committed to providing every foster carer with the training and support required to feel that they have the capability and skills to succeed in caring for a cat and kittens, and to feel supported in the emotional challenges that can occasionally occur. We aim to make your experience as a foster carer as easy as possible.

Atlantis Cat Rescue will cover all the costs of the cat's veterinary needs and provide the supplies (including food and litter) required to look after your temporary new house guest. All we ask of you is that you provide them with the individualised care the cat requires, and help them to understand what it's like living in a loving home, to help prepare them for their furever home.

However, we may have opportunities coming up in the near future and we maintain a register of potential foster carers, which we would love to fill. Foster care is an important commitment, many cats and kittens that come to us have very specific needs and often require various rehabilitation and care. As such, we need to ensure that foster carers have the skill, capacity and safe environment required to protect these innocent lives. We will contact you for further information if we identify you as a potentially suitable foster carer.

Together, we can do more than we can do alone.
